Native plants are the flowers, trees, and shrubs that have evolved together with the animals and insects of a particular ecosystem over millennia, developing interdependent relationships.
Invasive species are plants that were either intentionally or accidentally introduced into different ecosystems. Unfortunately, the majority of plants in our nurseries are invasive ornamentals imported from all over the world.
As you establish native plants in your yard, their seeds will begin to be naturally dispersed. Furthermore, every new piece of habitat helps to connect and create natural corridors with other pieces of nature. Humans have fragmented the landscape so dramatically that giving wildlife the ability to safely move from one natural area to another is critical.
